Outside the Mississippi Rooms, Bray, Co Wicklow: Playing a diverse set of material that ranged from Bad Company to Steely Dan, the band slowly added their own compositions and rapidly gained a reputation as a dynamic ‘must see’ live act and were quickly signed up by impresario and rock promoter Charlie McNally and his music publishing partner, Johnny Lappin. It was the combination of rhythm section, twin guitar and vocal harmony arrangements that set them apart from other acts. Grounded by the strong rhythm section of Sterling and Fitzgerald, frontman Rawson’s vocals were frequently supported by Doyle and Fitzgerald’s strong harmonies.

While Alan Doyle’s guitar technique displayed an intuitive hard rock edge, it was complemented by the more melodic rock/jazz funk virtuosity of Alan Hayes. Their diversity of styles blended hard rock, funk and blues into an impressive but forceful twin guitar fusion supported by strong vocals and harmonies. It was this diverse background which helped forge their unique and dynamic sound.

All five came from diverse musical backgrounds, Rawson from blues/folk, Sterling from jazz funk, Fitzgerald from rock and traditional Irish, Doyle from hard rock and Hayes from folk, jazz, blues and rock.
